Privacy Policy for Writing Space

Writing Space is a Chrome extension for writing notes, saving webpages, saving tab sessions, searching saved content, and optionally syncing notes and images through a WebDAV server configured by the user.

1. Information We Process

Writing Space may process the following information in order to provide its core functionality:

• Notes and Markdown content created by the user
• Webpages and tab session data explicitly saved by the user
• Images pasted or dropped into notes by the user
• User settings such as theme, shortcuts, editor preferences, and sync preferences
• WebDAV connection settings entered by the user

2. How Data Is Used

Writing Space uses data only to provide the extension's core features, including:

• Creating, editing, previewing, and searching notes
• Saving webpages and tab sessions into notes at the user's request
• Storing images attached to notes
• Syncing user data to a WebDAV server only when the user enables and configures sync

3. Data Storage

By default, Writing Space stores notes, images, and settings locally in the user's browser storage and local device storage.

If the user enables WebDAV sync, notes and images are transmitted only to the WebDAV server configured by the user. Writing Space does not provide or operate that WebDAV server.

4. Data Sharing

Writing Space does not sell user data. Writing Space does not use user data for advertising. Writing Space does not share user data with third parties except when the user explicitly configures a WebDAV server for syncing their own notes and images.

5. Remote Code

Writing Space does not execute remote code. All executable logic is packaged with the extension.

6. Permissions

Writing Space requests Chrome permissions only for core functionality:

• storage: save notes, settings, state, and sync metadata
• tabs: save webpages, tab sessions, and manage the editor tab
• scripting: extract content from a page the user explicitly chooses to save
• contextMenus: add save-page and save-all-tabs browser menu actions
• downloads: export notes and download backups
• clipboardWrite: copy note content when requested by the user
• alarms: run scheduled sync when enabled by the user
• host permissions: access the current page selected by the user and connect to the user's WebDAV server

7. User Control

Users control what content is saved, whether sync is enabled, and which WebDAV server is used. Users may delete their saved notes and settings at any time from the extension or by removing the extension.
